Sen Mountain Lake Walk

The Sen lake, one of the classic walks in the Chistau Valley, Posets-Maladeta Natural Park in the Spanish Pyrenees.  Experience high mountain scenery with a 2 and a half hour walk up from Engrota or 3 and a half/4  from Puen Pecador.

You can either start from near San Juan de Plan at the Puen Pecador, look out for the beautiful mature lime trees growing near bridge and enjoy the Cinqueta river flowing in the gorge below or you can drive up the piste and start at Engrota. For those staying at the Borda Artigueta, it is a short walk up the track to pick up the path from Engrota to the Sen lake.

Be prepared, if you are early risers, to see deer licking the stone for salt near Engrota. In summer, enjoy the beautiful wildflowers as you gradually walk up from Engrota to the waterfall just before the last climb up to the left of waterfall to the small lake and then to the Sen lake. Listen for marmots whistling, birds of prey flying overhead and perhaps flocks of sheep grazing nearby.

Start Puen Pecador: 1120m

Start Engrota: 1800m

End Sen Lake: 2300m
