Ibon de Plan Walk

One of the classic walks . Take the trek that goes behind the swimming pool in Plan and after a km or two the path to the Ibón is on your left. It’s a steep trek up through the forest crossing the barranco twice before arriving to the an open grass area beside the Labasar refuge. From there, it’s a short 20 minute walk to the Ibon de Plan or Basa de la Mora. Note there is a forest track with peage leading up to the refuge from Saravillo, so in the height of summer expect tourists with trainers and their picnic lunches galore. It’s not the same as having walked up under your own steam of course.

Plan to spend a while beside the lake as it’s a great spot for lunch and a siesta. Have a walk to the other side of the lake for a different perspective.

You can also climb the Peña del Mediodía from Ibon de Plan.
